The Word of God (Lesson 1: Question 5 Answer)

5.  Normally when we think of the word of God, we think of the Scriptures.  Why is it significant that Jesus Himself if called the Word of God?

This concept will be more thoroughly examined in Lesson 3.  However, for now we can just say that it is significant that Christ is called the Word of God, because He is the culmination of God’s revelation in history.  He is the climax of God’s revelation coming in the fullness of time, and this culmination has been recorded in the New Testament completely.  Thus, there is no need for God to reveal any more information for our salvation.  It is all contained within the Scriptures and we should not expect any further new revelation from God.
